Yorke Peninsula Resources and Energy Careers Program
The Ceres Project was proud to support the Yorke Peninsula Resources and Energy Careers Program (YPRECP)
The YPRECP provided 15 Yorke Peninsula secondary school students with real insights into career opportunities in the resources and energy sectors. Throughout the school year, students gained exposure to career opportunities through site visit excursions, industry presenters and career coaching. The industry sponsored program was in collaboration with the Ceres Project, Rex Minerals Limited and Protector Alsafe who provided industry direction, while the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) provided career pathway information and study options.
A coordinated approach across industry, government and training organisations ensured that students had support to obtain a greater understanding of the jobs available to young people in the resources and energy industries, not only professional roles but trades, para-professional and support roles too.
The Ceres Project proudly hosted the 15 Students and DECD staff on a field trip to the Suzlon Warehouse at Jamestown and the nearby North Brown Hill Wind Farm. The field trip was a great opportunity for the students to meet with Senvion staff and learn firsthand about a wind farm and career opportunities within the wind industry.
Throughout the year, students also visited the Rex Mineral’s Hillside site, Cavpower, the University of Adelaide and the Civil Contractors Federation SA’s Centre of Excellence.
